You know when people say it will take twice as long as you think and cost twice as much?  Well, it might be true!  Today we made the decision to take off all of the interior skins so we could have access to all of the wiring, replace all of the insulation, and just do it right!

There is a saying I really like.  I use it in my business and I guess it has rubbed off on my personal life....  "There is never time to do it right, but there is always time to do it over."

I'm off to Home Depot tomorrow to check out insulation!  Enjoy the pics.

This is the cleaned out view.  The black is glue that held in the insulation.

Nothin but elbo grease today...

So I have a layout now for my airstreal remodel but first I have to prep for painting. We patched some floor today, shaved down some rivets, and scrubbed really hard with some 409, magic erasers, rags, and a high speed buffer. Check out the gunk under the refrigerator vent after we pulled it off.

Here is it after scrubbing for a while.  Better but not perfect.

And here is my future bedroom.  I'm moving the bathroom and shower to mid-ship.  Wish me luck!

Now I've really done it....

So, I have reached the point of no return.  I tore out the bathroom and shower in the rear and I'm putting a bedroom back there and moving the bathroom and shower to mid-trailer.

I'm installing a composting toilet that I'm very excited about.  No black water hoses to deal with.  I'll have to empty it only once or twice per season which is fine with me.  See the attached pic of my lastest destruction.

This weekend, I'm cleaning the inside and prepping for new electrical and plumbing.  Wish me luck!

How to Demo (as in demolish) an Airstream in 100 seconds!

So today was the day I laid down the gauntlet.  I tore everything out of my perfectly good 1971 Airstream trailer.  Watch the video and see for yourself.  5 hours later, I had a shell of a trailer and a whole lot of work ahead of me.

My deadline is June.  I want to take my airstream either to the Bonnaroo music festival, the Indy 500 or hit the roads for some mountains and lakes in 2015.  Wish me luck and check back often for updates.

Enjoy the video.
